Privacy Policy
AFHEG Foundation respects the privacy of people who visit our website, use our learning tools, play our digital games, subscribe to updates or contact us. This policy explains what information we handle, why we use it and the choices available to you.
Who we are
AFHEG Foundation Limited operates publicly as AFHEG Foundation in Uganda. For questions about this policy or your personal data, contact hello@afhegfoundation.org.
The information we may handle
- Information you provide: for example, an email address when you subscribe, information in a partnership or contact enquiry, or details you choose to submit through a website form.
- Website and security information: limited technical information needed to operate, secure and diagnose the site, such as browser information, security events and request data processed by our hosting and security services.
- Personality & Career Test: your first name and unfinished progress are saved in your own browser so you can resume after a refresh. We do not ask for an email address or phone number to use the test. Age group is required and gender is optional.
- Digital games: where gameplay analytics are enabled, we may record pseudonymous events such as a game start, choices made, progress, completion and an educational score. We do not need your name to understand these patterns.
How we use information
We use information to provide the website and tools you request, respond to enquiries, send updates you have chosen to receive, improve learning experiences, understand aggregate use, protect the site from abuse and meet our legal or organisational responsibilities.
Young people and children
Some AFHEG resources are designed for young people. We minimise the information we ask for and do not require a child to provide an email address or phone number to use the Personality & Career Test. Where a programme involves research, sensitive information or identifiable data from children, AFHEG will use the additional consent, assent and safeguarding processes appropriate to that activity.
Lawful and fair processing
AFHEG seeks to collect only information that is relevant to a clear purpose and to use it fairly, transparently and securely. Depending on the activity, processing may be based on your consent, your request for a service or response, AFHEG's legitimate organisational needs, or a legal obligation.
Cookies and browser storage
We use essential cookies and browser storage for functions such as security, consent preferences and saving progress in an interactive tool. Optional analytics or third-party media features are controlled through our cookie choices where required. See our Cookie Policy.
Sharing and service providers
We do not sell personal data. We may use trusted service providers for website hosting, security, backups, analytics, embedded media or communications. They may process information only as needed to provide those services. Some providers may operate outside Uganda, in which case we seek to use appropriate contractual and technical safeguards.
How long we keep information
We keep personal data only for as long as it is needed for the purpose for which it was collected, legal or accountability requirements, or a legitimate operational need. Browser-based assessment progress remains on the device until it is cleared, replaced or the user starts again. Newsletter details are kept until you unsubscribe or we no longer need them.
Security
We use HTTPS, restricted administrative access, login protection, backups, security monitoring and other reasonable safeguards. No internet service can promise absolute security, so we review and improve these controls as the site changes.
Your rights and choices
Subject to applicable law, you may ask about personal data AFHEG holds about you, request correction or deletion, withdraw consent where processing depends on consent, or raise a concern about how your information is being used. Contact us at hello@afhegfoundation.org. You may also raise a data protection concern with Uganda's Personal Data Protection Office.
Ugandan data protection framework
AFHEG's website privacy approach is informed by Uganda's Data Protection and Privacy Act, Chapter 97, and the Data Protection and Privacy Regulations, 2021. This policy is a public explanation of our website practices and does not replace programme-specific consent or research documentation where those are required.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when our website, tools, service providers or legal obligations change. The date at the top of this page shows the latest public version.
